A leading company in the renewable energy sector specializing in solar tracking technologies is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Commercial. This senior role will oversee the commercial legal team and drive excellence in all commercial and contractual matters, particularly focusing on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the commercial legal team, providing strategic direction and oversight.
- Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of commercial agreements, including EPC contracts, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on all commercial matters, collaborating closely with the executive team.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline contract management and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Provide counsel on responses to Requests for Proposals and support business development activities.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring the company's interests are protected in all commercial transactions.
- Maintain and develop contract templates and other legal documents to support the commercial team's activities.
- Lead special projects and contribute to the overall success and growth of the company.
Education and Qualifications:
- JD degree and in good standing with a U.S. State Bar.
- 10-15+ years of post-law school experience, with significant experience in commercial law, ideally within the solar industry.
- Extensive experience with EPC contracts and a deep understanding of industry standards.
- Proven track record in managing and leading a commercial legal team.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills to navigate complex legal issues.
- Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Excellent judgment and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
