Position Overview:
JCW has partnered with a growing private debt fund in their search for a VP of Credit Underwriting & Deal Execution. This firm is relatively new to the market as they’re a direct lender for lower middle market companies. The candidate will be operating in a leadership role as their team will be responsible for underwriting/ evaluating investments, managing the company portfolio, and deal closing. Location: Remote opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting & Deal Execution: Lead underwriting efforts for new platform investments, add-on facilities, and loan modifications. Develop compelling written proposals and present them to firms’ executive team.
- Conduct comprehensive quantitative assessments of potential transactions, including financial modeling, due diligence, and sector-specific analysis.
- Oversee the performance of portfolio companies, ensuring ongoing awareness of their financial health and handling specific requests from the portfolio monitoring team, such as covenant compliance, delayed debt service payments, or waiver requests.
- Preparing presentations for the Investment Committee, including deal screeners and committee memos based on established templates.
- Supervise at least one Analyst and one Associate, ensuring their work meets company standards.
Qualifications:
- BA in finance or economics preferred with 5+ years of experience in private credit underwriting.
- Experience working for a debt fund, investment banking, or transaction advisory.
- Experience covering privately held U.S companies preferred but not required.
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365.
