Oversees tax planning, compliance, preparation, filing, and analysis. Focuses on identifying tax savings and cost reduction opportunities, while assessing tax implications of business operations. Leads a team and collaborates with other departments to document tax savings and impacts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, property, sales & use, and payroll taxes, as well as quarterly SEC reports and annual filings.
  • Develops and implements tax planning strategies, supports business operations, performs due diligence for acquisitions or restructurings, and identifies tax incentives and credits.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in tax and accounting laws through research and interpretation.
  • Conducts detailed analyses, presents findings to the CFO, and takes necessary actions.
  • Promotes intercompany tax awareness and process improvements, ensuring accurate data flow and identifying tax-saving opportunities.
  • Represents the company in dealings with tax authorities, auditors, and external tax advisors.
  • Prepares and communicates tax-related reports and summaries to stakeholders.
  • Ensures the tax department adheres to corporate policies and initiatives.

Required Background:

  • Education: BBA in Accounting or Finance, with a preference for a Master's in Taxation or an MBA.
  • Experience: Extensive knowledge of federal and state taxes with a minimum of 4 years in the utility industry; 6 years preferred. Proficiency in in-house income tax return preparation using CCH Axcess.
  • Supervisory Experience: Preferably 2 years, including hiring and performance management.
