Principal Consultant- Electrical Engineer

A technical and advisory consultancy specializing in renewable energy, including onshore & offshore, fixed/floating wind energy, onshore solar, floating solar, and hydrogen. A global service offering, focused on project development services, owner’s engineering, technical due diligence, and independent engineering. 

The Principal Consultant- Electrical Engineer will lever their existing network to prospect and develop leads and convert consultancy assignment opportunities, and work on project management consultancy assignments for electrical design, grid connection, and general engineering of offshore wind farms and other (renewable) projects.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Head of Electrical Engineering and Country Manager, you will lead electrical and multi-disciplined engineers to deliver our scopes of work. The successful candidate will provide expert analysis and advice relating to, but not limited to; offshore transmission and array systems, grid interconnection,power systems studies, owner’s engineer technical advisory, technical due diligence, power systems desktop study roles, feasibility studies and permit designs.

In addition to this, responsibilities will include:
  • Working as technical lead on projects 
  • Representing  the company as a key domain expert, sharing knowledge and experience to support the wider development of competencies 
  • Generating and prospecting leads 
  • Following up on leads to generate new work.
  • Independently preparing tenders and proposals.
  • Consulting on all matters of due diligence of procurement tenders and connection offers, technical studies of power systems, optimisation studies, technical problem solving, owner’s engineering, design work and cost-benefit analysis for offshore /onshore renewable electrical systems and infrastructure.
  • Keeping projects on budget and on schedule.
  • Attending regular internal meetings and external / third party meetings as required.
  • Ensuring all deliverables are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures and policies.
  • Managing multi-discipline teams of engineers (and other technical staff) in the completion of assignments for innovative clients.
  • Mentoring and supporting other team members.
  • Identifying and communicating relevant technological developments or regulatory changes which may impact the business or provide new opportunities.
The role is office based with flexibility to working hours. Occasional onsite attendance may be expected.

What we are looking for:
  • Qualified to a degree standard in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science, or ideally a Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Electrical/Power Engineering.
  • At least 7- 10 years of work experience as an electrical engineer, working on renewable energy, high voltage projects and related areas.
  • Capable to prepare technical documentation, including reports, specifications and technical drawings (AutoCad).
  • Ability to quickly master engineering software, knowledge of electrical systems and power systems concepts.
  • Ability to co-ordinate, direct and lead complex projects and work under own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge and experience of offshore wind farms/ renewable energy projects.
  • Project orientated with a keen interest and knowledge of renewable industry and project managements.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry.
  • Expert in the use of the MS office package.
  • Proficient with AutoCad.
  • Excellent English report writing skills.
  • Project management ability, qualification desirable.
  • Fluency in German and excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
