Legal Team Lead - International Insurance Company (Zurich)
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Legal Team Lead to join our prestigious international insurance company in Zurich. As the Legal Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing and leading a team of 6 skilled lawyers while ensuring the company's legal operations align with Swiss regulations and international standards. Your expertise in legal matters, especially in Swiss disclosure law and capital markets regulation, will be instrumental in shaping the legal strategies and compliance initiatives of our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6 lawyers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Oversee the legal department's activities, including providing guidance, setting priorities, and ensuring timely and accurate execution of tasks.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to ensure compliance with Swiss regulations and international legal standards, with a strong focus on Swiss disclosure law and capital markets regulation.
- Provide legal guidance and support to the company's various business units, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and minimizing legal risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Risk Management, Compliance, and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure a comprehensive approach to legal and regulatory matters.
- Stay current with evolving legal and regulatory landscapes, anticipating potential challenges and proactively recommending necessary changes to policies and practices.
- Handle complex legal issues, negotiations, and disputes as required, providing sound legal advice to executive management.
- Foster relationships with external legal partners, regulatory bodies, and relevant industry associations.
- Lead and contribute to the development of legal training programs for internal stakeholders to enhance awareness of legal matters and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree from a recognized institution.
- Admitted to practice law in Switzerland with 10+ years of legal experience, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector.
- Demonstrated experience managing legal teams, promoting teamwork, and driving results.
- Strong expertise in Swiss disclosure law, capital markets regulation, and other relevant areas of Swiss business law.
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is a strong bonus.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex legal principles in a practical and strategic manner.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
