Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Claims Lead to join our Paris office, overseeing and managing a team of 6 claims professionals across Continental Europe. This leadership position plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient handling of claims, maintaining the highest levels of service, and upholding the company's reputation for excellence in the reinsurance sector. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in reinsurance claims management, team leadership, and a deep understanding of the European insurance market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Manage a Claims Team: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 6 claims professionals spread across Continental Europe, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Oversee Claims Handling: Manage complex reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business, ensuring timely and accurate settlement in accordance with policy terms.
- Collaborate with Internal Stakeholders: Work closely with underwriting, legal, and actuarial teams to align on claims strategies and provide feedback on underwriting decisions.
- Ensure Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all claims are processed in line with local regulations and company policies, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory changes.
- Drive Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for efficiency in the claims handling process, implementing best practices and technological improvements to streamline workflows.
- Client and Broker Relations: Maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and customer satisfaction.
- Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reporting on claims performance, key metrics, and trends to senior management, and contribute to the development of claims strategies.
- Handle Complex Claims: Act as the escalation point for high-value or complex claims, providing guidance and ensuring swift resolution.
- Team Development: Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in reinsurance or insurance claims management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing a geographically dispersed team, with strong coaching, mentoring, and development skills.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of reinsurance products and claims processes across multiple lines of business, including property, casualty, and specialty lines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships across multiple European markets and cultures.
- Languages: Fluent in English; knowledge of French or another European language is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle complex claims and drive strategic solutions.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, law, or a related field. Additional qualifications in claims management or risk management are advantageous.
Reporting Line:
- Reports to the Head of Claims, EMEA.
