P&C Actuary - Data Science 


Join a leading insurance company and take charge of the development and continuous enhancement of pricing insights hubs within the P&C business. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to analytical and pricing requirements, driving innovation and improving risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with the actuarial team, management, underwriters, and other stakeholders within the P&C division.
  • Support the development and deployment of pricing models, ensuring compliance with the Technical Pricing Framework and Pricing Policy.
  • Drive innovation by leveraging data insights, developing predictive analytics using statistical models, machine learning, and AI solutions.
  • Analyze external data to enhance data-driven solutions and analytical models, focusing on areas like building characteristics and climate data.
  • Provide support and guidance to underwriters on actuarial and technical issues, including case pricing, data analytics, and business planning.

Experience Requirements:

  • Actuarial Pricing Background and P&C Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in P&C insurance with a solid understanding of actuarial pricing techniques.
    • Experience in liability, fire, motor fleet, and engineering classes is essential.
  • Proficiency in Data Analysis and Predictive Modeling:

    • Proficient in data analysis techniques and experienced with statistical and ML predictive models.
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including VBA, and proficiency in Python or R is required.
  • Statistical and Predictive Advanced Modeling Experience:

    • Proven experience in statistical and predictive advanced modeling techniques like boosting, random forest, and clustering.
  • Experience in European Underwriting Environment:

    • Familiarity with European underwriting classes and environment, with the ability to adapt to regional requirements.
  • Advanced Knowledge of SQL and/or SAS:

    • Experience in SQL and/or SAS is advantageous, demonstrating proficiency in data manipulation and analysis.

Key Interfaces:

  • Collaborate closely with P&C Management, Underwriting teams, and Group Underwriting for pricing model and actuarial matters.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for areas of responsibility within the Technical Pricing team, facilitating peer review and cross-division collaboration.
  • Liaise with P&C Underwriting Management and Group Underwriting as required, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Occasional travel between Amstelveen, Brussels, Paris, and London may be required to support business needs.
