Some of JCW’s boldest employees braved the harsh British winter and slept rough for the evening in London to raise money for homeless charity, Centrepoint last week.

We were lucky enough to have some beers and warm food to help us through the night and return to our warm beds the next day. However, the people we are raising money for aren’t so lucky and having a taste of how cold and uncomfortable sleeping out can be, meant that we became more passionate than ever about getting behind this cause.

The event included talks from young people who told their stories about how they became homeless and how Centre Point and other forms of support helped them turn their lives around. Their stories were incredible, and it became evident how easily a vulnerable person can become homeless and the courage and perseverance it takes to pull themselves out of homelessness.

See more about the event below.

Homeless charity Centre Point estimate that last year over 86,000 young people across the country asked for help with housing because they were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In London alone, homelessness has doubled in the last year.

“Walking around London, it’s quite obvious to me that the number of homeless people in our capital is growing. Homeless people are becoming more visible and I feel this is in contrast to the vibrant and inclusive city that London is, and that as Londoners we should chip in to do something to help." Laura - Senior Risk & Compliance Consultant at JCW.

The Sleepout Team at JCW managed to raise a total of £1347!

The total raised by everyone who attended Centrepoint’s Sleepout in November 2018 was

£667,731

Well done everyone!
